Spazi Design Inc. was founded in 1997 by Lia Laurino as a minority- and women-owned business (MWBE).
1997–2003
Visionary Beginnings
Spazi Design Inc. was founded in 1997 by Lia Laurino as a minority- and women-owned business (MWBE). Her expertise quickly positioned the company as a leader in large-scale procurement and design, overseeing major projects like JFK International Airport Terminals 1 & 4 and the Port Authority Bus Terminal.
2004–2005
Expanding Horizons
With a reputation for excellence, Spazi took on prestigious projects such as the Westchester County Courthouse and Jacobi Medical Center. The company’s meticulous approach to procurement and design established it as a trusted name in the industry.
2006–2010
A New Generation of Leadership
As the second generation stepped in, Maresa DeRogatis McNamara took the helm, expanding Spazi’s expertise into restoration. She spearheaded landmark projects, including The Plaza Hotel, Rockefeller Center’s Atlas Statue, and the Apollo Theater, solidifying Spazi’s reputation in luxury and historic renovations.
2011–2015
Innovation & Global Expansion
With a vision for the future, Spazi broadened its offerings, incorporating global sourcing and custom design solutions. Maresa led the launch of numerous fast-casual dining concepts across the East Coast while continuing to refine high-end residential and commercial spaces.
2016–2020
Pioneering White-Glove Service
Understanding the need for a more personalized, high-touch experience, Spazi revolutionized procurement with white-glove service, ensuring transparency, precision, and a seamless process from concept to completion.
